The Daily Telegraph promotes Sharri Markson to political editor-at-large
National political editor of News Corp’s The Daily Telegraph, Sharri Markson, has been promoted to political editor-at-large as the publication ramps up its efforts to “hold Canberra to account”.
Taking Markson’s place as national political editor is John Rolfe, currently News Corp’s cost-of-living editor.
Last year, Markson won the Kennedy Journalist of the Year prize – the first News Corp journalist to do so – as well as Scoop of the Year at the Walkley Awards. Both awards were for Markson’s story on former deputy prime minister Barnaby Joyce’s extra-marital affair with a staffer, the baby Joyce was expecting as a result, and the surrounding cover up.
Still incredible that Sharri Markson is credited with ‘breaking’ the Joyce story.
Still no political reporters in the National Political Editor role then…?
