“In the media industry the younger generation’s narrative has shifted to “how long have I got left in the business; what’s my exit plan?”
This has been a solid part of water cooler conversation for many millennials in media. And its plain to see why..
The media industry can be a very boring, un-rewarding and misogynistic place. Most of the higher positions are gate kept by “veterans” who think they have “done their time” and want a quiet yet high paying job and delegate most of their work below.
Its also very old school and doesn’t seem to be changing with the times. Sexism and misogyny are still rampart and the industry as a whole really seems to be all about making money for “good blokes”.
