The Guardian announces further appointments including blogger Greg Jericho
The Guardian has announced its Australian reporting staff ahead of its launch later this year.
The British newspaper has this morning confirmed the appointment of commentator Greg Jericho as its economics writer, political scientist Simon Jackman ahead of the 2013 Federal Election. Jericho and Jackman join Katherine Murphy and Lenore Taylor who were poached from Fairfax in February.
It has also appointed reporters Helen Davidson, currently a journalist at SBS; Bridie Jabour, a reporter at the Brisbane Times; Oliver Milman, the editor of StartupSmart.com.au and Nick Evershed multimedia editor at Fairfax Regional Digital Media, who joins as a data journalist. Fairfax journalist Mike Ticher will also join as site editor for the Asia-Pacific timezone.
“I am delighted to welcome these new recruits to Guardian Australia as we continue to add depth to our small but strong team of talented journalists,” said Katherine Viner, editor-in-chief of Guardian Australia.

Man, if they nabbed Ross Gittins as well I’d never need to buy another Australian newspaper again.
I’m still in shock after learning that The Guardian hasn’t set up its offices among the socially challenged, oppressed and most in need of The Guardian’s omniscient middle-class condescension.
Why not take office space in Merrylands? Greystanes? Wetherill Park or Greenacre? No?
That would be authentic, and show integrity, that’s why.
So it’s off to Surry Hills for an orgy of reciprocal back-scratching with the chattering classes!
