The King’s Speech takes out top award at TIFF

Australian/UK co-production The King’s Speech has won the Cadillac People’s Choice Award at the Toronto International Film Festival.

Directed by Tom Hooper and played by an all-star cast (Colin Firth, Geoffrey Rush, Helena Bonham-Carter), the period drama received a standing ovation at its premiere on September 10 and is already generating Oscar buzz.

The Cadillac People’s Choice Award is voted by the festival audience.  Previous winners include Academy Award-nominated Precious and Academy Award winner Slumdog Millionaire.
