The Rocket wins Best First Feature at Berlin International Film Festival

An Australian feature film has won three awards at the Berlin International Film Festival including Best First Feature.

Kim Mordaunt’s debut feature film The Rocket also won Best Feature in the children’s division of the festival, and the Amnesty International Award.

The film was produced by Red Lamp Films’ Sylvia Wilczynski and both written and directed by Mordaunt.

The Rocket is the story of a Lao boy, thought to bring bad luck, who leads his family across war-torn Laos to a Rocket Festival.
