The seven rules of creativity
This is an edited version of the Sydney AWARD School graduation address given by chairman Craig Davis last night.
Creativity is not an option. It’s not a luxury, a bonus, a nice to have.
Creativity is not a dalliance, an indulgence, it’s not effete, auto-erotic or a distraction.
Creativity is the main event.
Tim, thanks so much for sharing this. Inspiring stuff.
Great to hear there are some real progressive leaders out there that recognise the value of creativity and ‘artists’. Some real shifts happening in the way corporates operate and what they see as their business.
Cheers,
David.
Nice
Good stuff. I imagine this went down well
Very inspiring.
In case it’s difficult to remember the whole speech, I’ve created this handy chart that you can print up and put on your wall. =P

boom.
Read a very interesting article on the history of creativity, and it seems Craig may have read something like it too. The difference between having genius and being a genius.
One talks of being inspired and giving credit to the muse, cosmic forces, environment, whatever sets off that spark.
The other is a self focused ego driven.
It’s an amazing read which if I recall happened around the renaissance. A total shift in thinking.
Creativity is the main event – that sums it all for me.
Creative accounting is the main event
Thank God it is edited
