The six year persecution of Graeme Gilbert
Spare a thought, if you will, for Graeme Gilbert.
Presumably, his dream was not to spend his career hosting the 7pm to midnight shift on 2SM.
As Wikipedia somewhat cruelly puts it: “In 2002 Gilbert’s night time show on 2SM scored a rating of 0.1% in Sydney, the lowest rating ever recorded for a commercial program in a metro market in Australia. 2SM subsequently withdrew from the Sydney radio ratings.”
But there has been one consistency over the years. As the ABC’s Media Watch noted back in 2006, the poor man is plagued by pranksters. Pranksters who repeatedly call his quiz and give the answer of “India” and state a preference for “scat”. And fair to say, that somewhere along the line, Mr Gilbert appears to have lost his sense of humour about the whole affair, where he makes vague threats of a visit from the authorities.
Simple solution; do a night where the answer to every question is India.
Look radio just doesn’t work that way in my oppinion. How boaring and how quickly so many of us listeners would change the station if that was the case.

He is the rudest, most obnoxious host I have ever listened to. Constantly hangs up on people. Opinionated. Anti labour. Anti union. I listen to talkin sport and when i get in the car at night , I can’t change the station fast enough.

Can’t believe Graeme Gilbert is paid to be an announcer on radio. So one sided Liberal wont allow any Labour comments. What a small minded man.

You sound like a soft spoken person and thats nice. I may not agree with all your views, but you have a pleasant voice. I have my views about climatic changes and other environmental issues, but you don’t have to agree with me. Been a bush care worker so I have a pretty good idea about our land especially western Sydney where we are down to 6 percent real Cumberland plains woodland. This is a threatened eco-system which myself and others have spent many years trying to save for future generations. There has been far too much land clearing going on and thats not good. I am a botanical srtist and paint the rare native plants of western Sydney and other parts of the country, so have a clear understanding of our native plants. Gilbert still operating, but some good news to report; Dean Mackin has finally been sacked for his unhinged “opinions”. When the ‘Super Radio Network’ can’t handle it anymore, you know it’s all over. Good riddance to bad rubbish.
