The Voice final tops 3m with national peak topping 4m
The Voice broke through the 3m mark last night, with an average metro audience of 3.098m tuning in for the winner announcement, according to preliminary ratings from OzTam. It was the highest rating entertainment show since OzTam ratings began.
The final show itself averaged 2.654m.
The metro peak was 3.366m viewers. Combined with regional audiences, the national peak rose to 4.359m viewers.
Peter Wiltshire, group sales and marketing director of Nine Entertainment Co. said “These numbers are a testimony to outstanding content, a strong cross platform marketing strategy and how social media can enhance the traditional single screen experience. The Voice has exceeded our expectations across its 10 weeks on air, and we now look forward to continuing the momentum with one of the strongest back half schedules Nine has ever produced, including The London 2012 Olympic Games and Big Brother.”
It still didn’t beat the Masterchef finale of 2010 like producers of The Voice were saying it would. I thought the judges weren’t honest enough in their comments. I stopped watching after the battle rounds. Placing Tricky Business in such a rickety ever-changing timeslot has ensure it is inevitably a flop also. Such a shame decent Aussie dramaOffspring isn’t getting the numbers it deserves.
What sort of tv audience do we have that seem to be so excited by The Voice. that little girl had no “voice” and could not even belt out the notes. It was quite a disappointing show and I am not sure why people are so excited about it.The so called secret guest was just Jimmy Barnes coming out screaming. What was so special about that?
Great to see!! But better question is what were the other 23 million Aussies doing at that time!!
Thught the show was good but have to agree it was a bit disappointing and love Jimmy Barnes but again lacked the wow factor.
Loved Joel and Sarah signing together really made he night.
The Voice is the best thing we have watched for a long time and to see young
people have a go at their dreams including Dennis is inspirational.
hey Jono, you’re right, the judges were woeful in the battle rounds – every kid gets a trophy – but they got better immediately after. I think they must have read the reviews and realised being nice is nice, but anyone’s nanna can say you’re a star. they needed to bring something more and they did, especially keith and eventually seal. the singing quality did seem to drop off a bit as the show progressed – they blamed the flu – but the emotions seemed real and there were some very likeable characters worth rooting for (in the American use of that term).
Televised karaoke.
A formula that keeps giving.
The contestants were so badly dressed and what was up with Delta’s dress. she is tall enough without wearing something that made her look giraffe like in her stature. if anyone has watched American Idol on foxtel you would see how the well the kids were dressed and so polished in their performance(even the worst ones). will channel nine win the ratings this year going by the wins with the voice?hope not.
