‘Tiktok is not the enemy’: Tiktok CEO slams Facebook for ‘maligning attacks disguised as patriotism’
Facebook’s attempts to deflect criticism by leaning on its status as a ‘proudly American company’ have been rebuffed by Chinese-owned Tiktok, with Kevin Mayer, CEO of the social media platform saying the focus should be on transparency and a better future, not ‘attacks’.
Mayer has proclaimed tech platforms should open their data and algorithms to regulators and declared it will take the first step in doing so.
“We will not wait for regulation to come, but instead Tiktok has taken the first step by launching a Transparency and Accountability Center for moderation and data practices,” said Mayer in a blog post.
TikTok is deceptive & evil. They need to be banned before they do some serious damage.
Last time I checked, western owned social media like Facebook aren’t allowed to operate in China. Therefore why should Chinese social media expect to freely operate in other international markets? As much as I dislike FB, I don’t blame them to be honest.
Tik Tok execs… its not what you do now, it’s what you can do later with our data, if CCP decide to change its policy on data regulations with companies owned and operated in China.
Everyone is super aware of this. We want you to be open and transpaent by addressing this.
One way would be to make Tik Tok a public company, with majority of shareholders in non-CCP operated countries.
TikTok is generally hated by those who don’t understand it and is used as a guide to spit racist vitriolic garbage about China, a free pass to allow the inner xenophobe free.
