It’s time for Free TV and Pay TV to kiss and make up
The lack of cooperation between Free TV and the Pay TV is hurting television as a medium, says Match Media’s John Preston.
Free to air TV networks through their binding body Free TV Australia is on the precipice of losing traction amongst marketers and media agencies.
Why? Because their myopic view of the world of TV is that Pay TV is not as good as the Free TV networks’ offering.
So Free TV chooses to simply ignore, or, worse belittle Pay TV.
well said……..if the proposed Ten/MCN ‘friendship’ is formalised this may help that…..
Sounds good in theory but if free TV members can’t even agree with each other I’m not hopeful – I think this one would need consultation from the United Nations as there is a very long history ……… but never say never I guess
Australian media can’t work together – FXJ and News, magazines, the FTA networks, the online players, outdoor industry, radio … they are combative by nature.
if print media are one industry sector irrespective of whether they use a free / paid or subscription revenue model (on or offline) then surely TV can do the same?
