Tomorrow, When the War Began fails in Spain
The most successful Australian film of 2010, Tomorrow, When the War Began has failed to find an audience in Spain – where it is translated as Mañana, cuando la guerra empiece.
It was released on March 4, earning 60.285 € in its opening weekend (9,221 tickets sold) and debuting at #20 of the Spanish box office. It droped off the Top 20 the following week
Boxoffice.es reported the following:
If only it had Javier Bardem in it…
Clearly, (like Beneath Hill 60), films with no recognizable international stars won’t work overseas, except on DVD.
I fear the same will happen in the UK if it is not promoted more. None of the main cinemas will be showing it and I have not seen it advertised anywhere
