Tourism Victoria partners with Google’s Street View Trekker to help map tourist destinations

Google’s Street View TrekkerTourism Victoria has partnered with Google’s Street View Trekker to help map popular tourist destinations in the state.

Google partnered with the tourism body’s digital partner IE Agency to collect Street View imagery at various tourist destinations across the state, such as The Great Ocean Road, Hanging Rock and The Royal Botanical Gardens.

Two IE staffers are using the Trekker, a backpack with cameras that capture a 360 degree image of surroundings, to capture panoramic shots as they walk through Melbourne with the images they capture set to be stitched into digital renderings and published on Google Maps allowing tourists to take a virtual trip to Victoria in order to better plan their trip to the state.
