Toy Story 4 takes $8m in first box office weekend

Toy Story 4 has landed with a bang in the Australian box office, taking $8.030m across its first weekend out. The Pixar-created film picks up nine years after 2010’s Toy Story 3 and follows the story of Sheriff Woody and Buzz Lightyear.

Toy Story 3 was the first animated film to gross over US$1bn worldwide in ticket sales and took $37.958m in the Australian box office during its cinematic run. Toy Story 4 has already reached US$238m in worldwide takings.
