Over half of tomorrow’s Hottest 100 tracks will be from Aussie artists

Triple j’s Hottest 100 is set to dominate airwaves and backyard BBQs alike over the weekend, and ahead of Saturday’s countdown, the station has given listeners a “sneak peek” at this year’s results. Don’t worry, there’s no real spoilers here.
“Think big debuts, big numbers and big records,” they hint.
Last week, the station revealed that three songs in the top five swapped positions within the final week of voting, showing how close the results really are, despite the millions are voted lodged each year.
Now they have revealed the following factoids:
- An incredible 34 artists are making their Hottest 100 debut this year.
- June was the hottest month for entries despite the weather outside.
- 52 tracks in the countdown are from Australian artists.
- Five songs in the countdown were first heard on triple j Unearthed.
- We’re giving less f**ks this year. There are 109 across the whole countdown (a 16% decrease on 2022)
- Three massive Hottest 100 records are set to be smashed!
Tantalising. The Hottest 100 kicks off at noon AEST on Saturday. Spoiler: tomorrow’s Weekend Mumbo will be all about it.
