As of October 1 you have lost an avid listener that has raved about the Classic MMM dab station and many others will simply turn off
Perhaps you just should have cleaned up the dribble on your FM station for it too to have been more successful , the message was clear in its lost audience

What a pity!! MMM Classic Rock is the best station on the radio. Throw some adds in if you have to but please don’t make us listen to those MMM FM idiot DJ’s that try too hard to be funny and are mostly on their own ego trip. Adults who listen to classic rock are not interested in over-hyped DJ’s blabbering on about rubbish. We just want the music and some news; if this has to be subsidised by some adds so be it…but don’t make us listen to MMM FM…please!!!!

The comments on MMMCR’s FB page say it all…many disgruntled listeners who will not be listening to Triple M come October 1.

im upset, the best dab station in australia shutting down ive spent probably 2 thousand dollars on radio in my car .several in my home a 600 dollar yamaha receiver with aerials as im in wollongong and its closing …very dissapointed ,im sure im not the only person

Another one of my favourite radio stations eaten away by a commercial decision. I have already lost “Nightz with Alice” on my local station so crossed to Triple M digital. I turned off from 96FM after losing Alice and having to listen to the Eastern States talking programs late afternoon with Dave Hughes (a load of crap for a radio station). 94.5 FM is not much better, too much talking. I shan’t listen to Triple M unless I can see that there are some special broadcasts of Classic Rock. I shall go to the streaming US or UK classic rock stations.

I can’t believe you’re shutting down on of the most successful stations in Australia.

What a waste. Classic Rock was the good music of MMM without the pathetic bogan announcers. I can only tolerate MMM in very limited doses and have zero interest in sport.
But if you want an ever better mix of music from the 60s to the present, there is an option – B Rock FM from Bathurst on 99.3. It is actually affiliated with MMM.

To paraphrase a well known jingle, it’s because SCA has no brains. SCA has just fired the starting gun on the race to the end of DAB+ and probably commercial music radio too. The feedback on FB and other comment pages is universally negative. You’d think this announcement was some perverse stunt; needless to say it has backfired spectacularly. I’m off to Pandora, looking forward to seeing the rest of you there, cause you almost certainly won’t be listening to Triple M.

Disappointing that such a successful format is being killed off to protect the “core” product. As many of the comments reflect, it’s not as simple as “play different music” (during the short time there is music being played) – I listen to Classic because, in addition to the music, I have no interest in multiple “hosts” bantering with each other, prattling on and on about “funny things” and then asking listeners to join in. I’m also worried about Modern Rock Closing too, It’s the only new Rock station worth Listening.

Would welcome some advertising content rather than total loss of this great DAB+ station based on an economic decision. MMM, please stay true to delivering classic rock through the best quality possible radio airway transmission. Don’t force the listeners that have been with you since the beginning to seek other DAB+ alternatives.

To me, the planned closure of MMM Classic Rock one week from now is evidence that the business model under which broadcasting runs in Australia is flawed.

Instead of broadcasting media having to seek commercial revenue from advertisers, why couldn’t broadcasters of audio, video, graphical and textual content simply be remunerated from a public fund according to how popular the material is found to be?

Whatever additional taxation revenue may be required of the public in order to fund broadcasting would surely be substantially less than the costs that advertising adds to the costs of all of our purchases .

Spot on! First there was 96FM purchased by these people and it promptly had a whole station format change – loads of listeners walked away. Now the only Classic Rock station available in Perth is due to go the same way. And you think this will encourage the digital listeners to the FM band, how exactly?
If your commercial station doesn’t make enough in revenue from advertising, clearly people don’t see value in advertising on a station that has the same formula that every other station does – out of touch, un-funny and completely narcissistic “hosts” that should all be sacked!

I certainly missed Classic Rock over the 2 weeks the Olympic games were on i went back to gold wont listen to MMM anymore you wont have the same format as classic rock no matter what you say, put ads on it if you need to keep it going.At least i found Alice Cooper in the play store so i can keep listening to him very disappointed MMM

I have 4 DAB+ Radios and Listen to ‘Classic Rock’ most of the time. I Wont Listen to MMM if you Broadcast SPORT !

I switch to Classic Rock when the MMM boofheads are talking footy on the weekend, then back to MMM during the week.
Now what will I do on the weekend.

I can not believe this decision, this station is the main reason I bothered buying a DAB radio and I am extremely disappointed classic rock will be no more, I can only hope a similar station will become established.

I used to listen regularly to Perth’s 96fm, until the new management decided to drop Darren d’Mello and Alice Cooper and replace them with the moronic drivel of Hughes, Sandilands and their off-siders. (I really hate the multi-presenter format.)
I discovered MMM Classic Rock when looking for an alternative place to listen to Alice. D’Mello is now on 1080am (6iX) in Perth, and I often tune in when I’m in the car. I’ve also started tuning in to some of the local fm community stations, which do have some interesting offerings, such as Bob Howard’s “The Big Soft Punch” on Radio Fremantle (107.9fm).

Have to agree with all the comments above. Loved MMM Classic Rock and hate the yobbo station MMM FM has become. Won’t be going back.

They’ve lost me. Spotify and Pandora it is. The whole reason that station succeeded was because there wasn’t endless footy and comedy, it was just consistent good music. Surely the ratings they were getting speak for themselves?

All FM was scrubbed from all my radios when they bought 96, after a great start in 1981…seems they are still true to form. Got it right for the first time and freaked….idiots.
Now, if you want to keep hearing Alice on DAB I believe there’s a station called Rebel FM from QLD online and THEY have nights with Alice Cooper. I don’t know if they are DAB but there’s a great opening for them here now.

The reason 110,000 turned from Triple M to their Classic Rock sibling is simple………….people are sick of having Guns & Roses, Foo Fighters and Red Hot Chilli Peppers shoved down their throat 5, 6, 7 + times a day, every day!! Their lack of variety is appalling. Unless things change dramatically, closing Classic Rock won’t get that 110,000 back!!

Your title says it all. How “creative” is it to ditch a station that reminds us of a time before greedy money grabbing sheep appeared.
Do you really think that us lovers of a time when artists created real music, are going to go anywhere near your ad station. Listened to Triple M yesterday for an hour, no sign of classic rock , the music was terrible, too many ads,station promos , who is in charge of programming a sixteen year old.
Also in the ads for their sport in Sydney they have about 15 ex footballers and others, in they can afford to waste money then run a damn station like Crd that people want…fools.

It’ll be back to my classic CD collection for me. Just bought a DAB tuner for my car purely for the Classic Rock content… thanks for nothing Triple M

BB6 Music and Radio 5 Live and Fran on RN. The gash they pump out of Aussie stations is absolutely appalling. Same tired American format in every state.There really is no need for state based stations, they all sound the same, from Kiis to MMM all of them rubbish. Great place to work though!

Well Done again Triple M, I had switched away from triple M (which I had been listening to since it first started) because of the dribble you call “the Grill Team” even though I loved the music. Then I found and loved the classic rock station and now you are shutting it down. You have lost me as a listener again because I will never listen to triple m as long as the grill team are on air.

As a 66 year old that grew up with rock music i salute this wonderful station. I like many other commentators will not listen to the intellectually disabling ramblings of overpaid and under talented ‘hosts’ on MMM.

Your underlying assumption here is that MMM would be the SECOND choice of Classic Rock listeners. You missed the mark by some way there. Aside from the benefit of great music, the lack of repetitive ads and inane chatter of overpaid and uninteresting announcers made CRD worthwhile and is why all the above comments are clear indication that no-one will be migrating back to MMM. You had something of value, yet decided to throw it away. Let me buy it off you for $1, which is more than it is worth to you. In the meantime Pandora is a good alternative.

I hate FM stations, can’t stand the verbal diarrhoea, and Triple M is no exception, but I LOVED Triple M Classic Rock, and Alice Cooper… terrible decision and I’m pretty pissed off about it! The OMG! station that replaced it is just rubbish.

Well there goes my dab radio back in it’s box. Digital radio in Perth is now dead for me, thanks MMM, not. At least I have discovered some really cool radio stations online and if you go to Nights with Alice Cooper you can find those stations his show is played on, the bonus of that is that their nights are our days. Yes the dribble on the main station ….. I can only listen to Tripple M between 9:30 am and 3:00 pm when I am mostly safe from the Grill team. If I hear one of their sketches I immediately change to anther station and leave it there. What a shame to lose such a good digital station which, if they had put ads on, would be less of a problem than their so called DJ’s.

Kiss, Black Sabbath, Slade, Skyhooks, Alice, Hendrix, ACDC with Bon and many others with no restrictions and tracks from albums that you never hear on the airways. You won’t hear any of these on MMM just the same old tired songs. I heard every Skyhooks song off the Living in the Seventies album, many Kiss songs I never heard on radio before. Just switched to Aussie digital, not quite as good but a good replacement station for now and no unfunny banter or ads!

It’s a real same that classic rock digital has shut down we have it playing all day on the building sites that we work on. When trades come to the site that havnt heard of this station so many of them would go and buy a digital work radio so they could listen to the great music with out all the adds and Dj rubbish talk. I don’t think I could go back to triple m on principle. Looks like iPods or pandora.

I’ve hardly been a radio listener for the past 30 years, mindless dribble from the DJ’s and mostly crap music. Apart from a few years when I was living in New Zealand and had radio Hauraki to tune into, now there is a radio station. Classic Rock reminded me so much of that classic, world renowned station. Ah well, it was great while it lasted, I guess I’m back to just living with thoughts while I work away!

Im listening to classic rock Florida now, so far Im really likng it.I also have radio net and have a good range of stations to listen to.

They had already been trying to get advertisers on the station, either this is admitting defeat on that front or the station will probably reappear with one or two advertisers and they’ll position themselves as having “rescued Triple M Classic Rock”… a stunt to get us ready for, and accepting of advertising on the station?

If its not a stunt then it is simply a stupid decision.

I agree with all of these comments in regards of DAB Classic rock station. It was sensational. The music choice, Alice Cooper, classic albums. The massive disappointment at it closing is an understatement. You create something great, then dont know how to manage it. It bastardised your commercial station, because of the music you play on it. i am actually a fan of the Grill team & the sport & NRL. That is when i listen. Turned off the minute you went to a predominately music format…too much new crap !!!!
NOW – you ‘say’ you wil lplay more classic rock on MMM; however it will not be album tracks & other classic songs – it will be the same commercial ones we all know & have heard enough of. Where do i get my Led Zep fix now……..VERY poor form & VERY poor & scared management….!!!!!

Try online US station called The Bus. I have been listening to Alice Cooper´s show all this week and music is similar to CRD. It has the occasional streaming glitch and ads here and there. Alice is on at Perth time 7am to 12noon. Hope that helps.

Apple Music streaming no longer counts toward your data usage on Telstra. Optus offering similar deal for Netflix. The one remaining barrier – high data fees – is now gone. Apple have my $17 per month for a family plan, and the radio only ever goes on for the news. FM radio will soon move to the history books as another medium that couldn’t adapt to changing consumer demands. Clearly we’re happy to pay a subscription to avoid ads and get the exact content we want.

I had my DAB radio at work tuned to Classic rock and it was the only thing worth listening to. Alice Cooper knows his music and tells good stories about music and musicians he’s known and worked with, as well as playing awesome stuff. Dissapointed doesn’t cut it. No MMM for me.
