TV audience finds Beat The Star’s bread-turning-to-toast a turn-off
Seven’s new Tuesday scheduling weak link appears to be Beat The Star, a game show in which families compete in challenges against TV personalities.
Last night’s first outing of show – which climaxed with the family trying to guess more accurately than occasional My Kitchen Rules guest chef Manu Feildel when toast was done – rated an average audience of 955,000 according to preliminary TV ratings from OzTam.
Beat The Star came fourth in the 7.30pm timeslot, behind Nine’s Top Gear (1.295m), Ten’s Talkin Bout Your Generation (1.210m) and ABC1’s The 7.30 Report (1.021m).
*ding*! This show is toast.
I saw the promo and I couldn’t believe it… is this what Australian television has come to – an audience watching a group of people watching a toaster?? Whats next week – guess how long grass will grow with Jamie Durie?
Time to get a new focus group Seven.
Here’s a comment from that linked story, from back in May – even the live audience thought it sucked so much they had to switch off!

God!!!!! Channel seven owe’s me and my partner $50,000 for being in the audience! This is soooooo bad it’s not funny. Over half the audience left, and they had to re-arrange the remaining to make the studio look full. I myself would of left, except I have a disability and could not! The one and only time in my life I was annoyed with my disability! This show will not make it to air…. I hope! —
I give it 4 weeks or less, then it’ll be onto 7TWO or to the graveyard to join that other stupid game/physical challenge show on 9 where people got dressed up in lycra and tried to fit through shapes…I can’t even remember the name it was so forgettable.
What a stupid show Beat the Star…they should Beat the show to death…now they are repeating it again during the day….like we would want to suffer through it again..
The show was pathetic. I couldn’t watch all of it. The host was flamming annoying!!!!!! Talking about toast popping like it was the most suspense filled story. The fake sound affects of the audience going oooooooohhhh when they were pouring the goats milk into the container blah. I only watched the end of it today because it was on before all saints. I hope it doesn’t come back on.
Beat the Star more like Death Star Mate!!
silly show nobody likes it
