Twitter reveals biggest moments of 2014, but Packer v Gyngell doesn’t make top 10
Twitter Australia has unveiled the nation’s most tweeted about moments, with Remembrance Day in at the top for 2014, while singer Lorde scored the most retweeted message and #auspol was the biggest hashtag.
May proved a big month for significant Twitter activity with the reaction to the Federal Budget on the 20th the second most tweeted about moment, whilst AFL player Jack Viney appealing a two week suspension on May 8 was third, and the student who interrupted Q&A with a banner on May 5 was eighth.
Unsurprisingly high profile personalities makeup the list of most retweeted tweets of the year, with one third of the top 15 featuring tweets about Phil Hughes’ death, including messages from Cricket Australia, Michael Clarke, David Warner and Brett Lee all featuring.
