Well handled by Noonan. Henry has lost the plot. What’s worse is that Kathryn Robinson seems to agree with what the nutter says on just about everything. Ten must be desperate for ratings, the video has even made the tenbreakfast.com.au site.

Breakfast has really got its format together in recent weeks. I really like it. And I loved Paul’s final retort to the CFMEU guy.

David Noonan surely wins the Gold as the Union movements worst media performer. Not intellectually nimble enough to turn the “will you apologise” question and unable to think of a single safety issue.

If Dave had Federal Parliamentary ambitions they’re on hold.

Firstly all those commenting need to focus on the issue and not the individuals, im sure they are jealous that Paul is far more successful and honest than they will ever be, secondly these workers need to suck it up and go back to work or alternatively go to uni? get a job that pays more? its their choice of career that’s the problem, it just like the bloody teachers whining, we all know it doesn’t pay well so don’t become one and then complain!

@Johnathan Just goes to show how little you pay attention to what people are protesting about. In this case the major problem is safety. Approx 40 people die every year on construction sites (2011 figures) and I think they have every right to protest if that already great number has a chance of increasing because of a lack of adequately trained staff watching over and poorly applying safety protocols. Many of the teachers strikes in recent times have not been for pay rises but for better funding for the schools our children go to, this doesn’t mean pay rises, it means air-con units, asbestos free buildings, more teachers per child, text books, computers, etc. It was a concern that Noonan couldn’t think of one safety issue, clearly there are many with so many deaths every year. Clearly a construction site is not a safe place to work.

Guessing jonathon doesn’t have kids.
Or perhaps Australia does need less talented, highly motivated, intelligent people choosng to shape the intellectual future of this country (or, you know, actually building things) as a safe, socially and financially rewarding career, but instead needs more lawyers.
Or poorly rating TV breakfast hosts (is this a high demand career option?)
Or more marketing and communication graduates. *cough*

I really like Paul! I thought this made Noonan come across as a right plonker. He certainly couldn’t articulate his argument well – and when I watched it this morning I was astounded at how quickly Noonan started pulling out the cheap shots at Henry. Enjoyed Henry agreeing at the end about not having enough viewers.

Hey Ollie, the dispute is actually about militant union members intimidating other workers on site by wearing union BADGES and having union FLAGS (along with underground militant intimidation)! Really looking forward to Mr Abbott landsliding in and getting rid of ‘UN’ fairwork Australia, which is stacked with union heavies and ex union lawyers.

Honestly a real cheap shot from Paul with a justifiable reaction. Does he ask the green protesters of sea shepherd about wasting money? Those protesting the super trawler?
I think Dave gave him a justifiable response considering they agreed to a government recommendation to cease the strike action for two weeks and mediate and Daniel Grollo refused.

Pity this sort of thing never happened with Bruno , Daniel’s father.

Paul should do a little more research on the dispute and parties involved.

Oh I’m one of those Construction workers Jonothan. I work extremely long hours, have two trades and a diploma and have half finished a bachelor degree too. You’d be suprised by what I earn though I think.

Remember smarty you’ve only got your public holidays and weekends off because people like us put it on the line and fight for all our rights.

Fair Work Australia, sounds a bit like the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea. When you actually have to put the word in the title you know it’s BS.

Didn’t think much about Paul Henry before but he’s spot on about the union protests in Melbourne.

If the Supreme court didnt order the stop work blockade illegal there could be a bit of debate but the way it stands anyone involved in those protests doesn’t deserve 1 cent pay rise over the next 12 months !!!

As the union said correctly, the sort of right wing views Henry espouses have resulted in much worse working conditions for Kiwi’s than here in Australia.

Yeah stuff the Supreme Court…. Everyone should have the right to be lazy no matter what and call it a protest.

Good on Grocon for deciding to sue the unions. They should win pretty easy and the money is gonna come out of the pockets of the union members who might then get a clue and decide to spend their money or something more worthwhile.

The point of the original article seems to be that Henry, in his role of attack puppy, asks an absurdly biased and unfair question of Noonan? Noonan fairly reasonably I thought, tells Henry to “get fucked” by pointing out to Henry that he, his question and his show, are largely irrelevant because they effectively have no viewers.

Somehow that’s morphed into a debate about the pro’s and cons of the industrial action.

Henry was asking the union guy to apologise for the taxpayer expense of police presence, and making a public street inaccessible. Not the actual protest.

I say give Paul Henry a break – he’s the only person on a morning show who is not completely sanitised and sterile. At least he asks the questions that the others are too scared to.

What’s refreshing about reactionary commentators?

Paul Henry and Ten Breakfast are fantastic – too bad the show has not been backed by ten by extending its time on air to possibly 10am. I cannot stand Today or Sunrise. Lets face it Paul is funny and asks the difficult questions that others wont. Additionally, talk about right wing its not like the ABC or Lisa on Today are not biased on the other political divide. Grow up, I dont believe the ratings as everyone I know watches and loves Paul – and I vote Labor and am a union delegate.

I don’t agree with everything Paul says by far BUT I love his honesty and man, he’s funny! Sunrise and Today are so artificial and stale – they need a major overhall. At least he tells it how it is and although some of his comments make me angry (particularly about Campbell Newman) I appreciate the debate. Breakfast is a great show it’s a shame the ratings don’t reflect that.

I think it’s admirable that every viewer of Ten’s Breakfast has gone to the trouble of posting glowing comments here.
