US version of The Voice has a quiet debut

Nine’s first episode of the American version of The Voice has failed to capture anywhere near the same audience as the local version.

Featuring Christina Aguilera, Adam Levine, Cee Lo Green and Blake Shelton the show – which aired from 7-8pm – took 669,000 viewers, according to preliminary ratings from OzTam.

The show was fourth in its time slot behind Ten’s MasterChef, which drew 1.259m. The ABC News also beat The Voice, with 1.065m, as did Seven’s The Amazing Race (1.023m) and Home and Away (1.014m).

The singing competition placed 19th overall. However, in the key age demographics, the show did better. It placed 9th in 16-39 and 18-49 and 12th in 25-54.
