US version of The Voice has a quiet debut
Nine’s first episode of the American version of The Voice has failed to capture anywhere near the same audience as the local version.
Featuring Christina Aguilera, Adam Levine, Cee Lo Green and Blake Shelton the show – which aired from 7-8pm – took 669,000 viewers, according to preliminary ratings from OzTam.
The show was fourth in its time slot behind Ten’s MasterChef, which drew 1.259m. The ABC News also beat The Voice, with 1.065m, as did Seven’s The Amazing Race (1.023m) and Home and Away (1.014m).
The singing competition placed 19th overall. However, in the key age demographics, the show did better. It placed 9th in 16-39 and 18-49 and 12th in 25-54.
Why would we be interested in the US version…all these shows are getting tired and we’ve already shown the Aus version which took all the hype and gloss..now the US version (which has tanked in the US BTW) is yawno
Nine must have thought it would capitalise on the great ratings of the Australian version of The Voice by showing the US version. Guess what? They might just kill the goose that laid the golden egg!! Viewers are going to be turned off by thewhole concept and the novelty value! Great to see Sunrise victorious over Today.
Big risk, definitely but I tuned in and enjoyed it; judges weren’t as “nice” to contestants as the Aussie version’s were but not sure if that’s good or bad yet? Will have to watch and see I guess… Which is just the risk they’re taking!
It’s obvious the US version own’t resonate with the Aussie audience in the same way the local version did. What’s more, the series has already concluded int he US so it takes any intrigue away from who wins the series. In my opinion the singing talent of the US absolutely crushes anything Australia produced from Season 1. The US performers are on another level.
Anyone else who watched think the twitter comments during the show were fake?
Why don’t they just show endless repeats of Big Bang Theory and 2 1/2 Men … that would be something really different.
Not surprised, who wants to listen to US people on Voice?
Umm….the US version has been on YouTube for months now. Derrrrr!!!
The US version might work if it was aired around same time as it is in the USA, to take advantage of FB & twitter activity. An Aussie premiere in July isn’t very compelling when the final episode went to air in the USA in May, and as Daniel say all over youtube.
Well didnt channel nine put big bang on last week and now all of a sudden they bring on the US version of the voice. It is overkill surely. then they have another voice special sometime this week i forget when. I wont be watching as the singers were abysmal. Yes watching the US version will give people an idea of how hopeless the Aussie singers were and so badly dressed as well. Watch American Idol and you will see how polished the young singers are and so fashionable in their dressing.Masterchef rules!!!
