V8 Supercars rubbish claims of drop in free-to-air coverage in new Ten deal
V8 Supercars has rubbished claims free-to-air viewers will get fewer races when it moves broadcasters in 2015, insisting there will be more coverage than ever when it moves from the Seven Network to a joint Network Ten and Foxtel arrangement.
Reports had suggested the $241m V8 Supercars broadcast deal between Network Ten and the pay TV broadcaster Foxtel and Fox Sports announced last month, will bring only a handful of races to free TV viewers, while the majority of content will be reserved for subscribers to Fox Sports.
However a spokesperson for V8 today told Mumbrella: “There will be more on free to air television than there has been this year and last year.”
I never believe hardly any speculation unless if it is from the paddock at motorsport venues or from the governing body themselves which indicates what may happen in regards to driver moves and TV rights respectively. Why are all these newspapers trying to make us believe that there will be limited coverage but instead there will be twice as more then previous years held by 7. Good on ya V8s, for getting the fans an indication as to what is in the package in the TV deal for Ten
I have a very important notification to the Executives of Ten and Fox, if you don’t take Neal Crompton over with his team of V8 Supercar presenters it will a sad day for this motorsport. After watching most of the Motor Sport world wide these are by far the most informant presenters of any class of motor sport in the WORLD.
