We want The Hobbit in NZ: Actors’ Equity
Four hundred actors attended the New Zealand Actors Equity meeting in Auckland last night, to discuss the minimum terms and conditions for work on The Hobbit.
“Our members are simply seeking fair and equitable employment terms and conditions for New Zealand actors […] We all have the same goal in mind – to get The Hobbit made, here in New Zealand. Until we reach a fair and equitable solution, we recommend that all performers wait before accepting any engagement on The Hobbit,” said NZ Actors’ Equity president Jennifer Ward-Lealand.
The statement follows those of director Peter Jackson and the studios (New Line, Warner Bros. Pictures and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures).
