Westfield marks opening of new Miranda Westfield shopping centre with skateboarding video
Westfield have partnered with Cronulla born pro-skateboarder Corbin Harris to mark the new Miranda Westfield shopping centre, with Harris shooting a one-off skate film which showcases the centre after dark.
In the film Harris rides one of 100 limited edition skateboards featuring artwork designed in collaboration with contemporary street artist Anthony Lister, with the skateboard going on sale at Surf, Dive and Ski in Westfield Miranda today.
Harris was also styled in street-attire available at Westfield Miranda retailers.
It was produced by communications design firm Baker Brand.

Skateboarding in shopping centres? What a great idea…What next a shoplifting expo?
Does this mean we’re now allowed to ride skateboards in Westfield shopping centres?
A much better version of this and probably where the creatives got the idea..

@Tom G – you’re a tool.
Get some Culture into you
Just so ‘meh’ – you see art students with better looking films that simply through sheer accident showcase products better than this does.
The extensions to Westfield Miranda (or as it is better known – Miranda Fair) are quite breathtaking). Why they spend so much time showing the car park and a set of escalators baffles me. This could have been shot at Wagga Wagga Mall.
It’s different, it’s beautifully made and it still gets the message across. I think it is great.
A man wearing a dress riding thru a car park – wtf?
It was better in the 80s

@JNK – what message does this get across?
Beautifully made, yes, but just a bit of fluff that does nothing to showcase the venue, the retailers or any other key attribute of a shopping centre. B&W snippets of Chanel and Zimmerman are competing with an underground carpark!
I watch it and get the feeling of space and newness. Sure, it’s because it’s an empty carpark, but it’s just the feeling I get and one that I reckon the centre would want people to think about when considering where to shop.
Very unexpected for Westfield, they usually go down the safe path…. There is something mesmerising about it.
Nicely produced. Love the randomness of it for a shopping centre – who usually discourage skating.
Five tricks in a minute and a half? Clearly they didn’t get enough time to film Corbin actually skating. Black & white, slow motion footage is about as cliched as it gets. If some thought went into it, it could have been so much better. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nPuEU16P3zg
@Give it up.. skateboarding in a car park shot in B&W is culture with a capital ‘c’ apparently. It’s a very silly idea which does not show a bloody thing other than the fact that you have no idea champ.
Let’s face it Westfield are pretty conservative/boring with their marketing campaigns I’m sure this is all they would allow Corbin to do!
Execution very poor IMO. Unfortunately, it has fallen into the cliche trap so instead of looking like an unexpected ideas from a traditional brand it looks like a piece of ‘me too’ content from a not very cool brand. Also, where are his shopping bags?
What a bunch of tall poppy syndrome pathetic Ivory tower loving needy twats.
Westfield have had a crack, they are not trying to win an Oscar.
Feel free to post links of your earth shattering work nobody’s.
hey people, why not praise a brand for doing something new and different.
Playa’s just wanna hate hate hate…
