Westpac pitches media account

Westpac Sherwood Brisbane-Customer Lauren Judson (0403650424) speaks to Personal Banker, Angelica Miranda
The Westpac media account is currently under review, Mumbrella can reveal.
The account is currently held by Media Lab – a bespoke solution led by Group M’s Wavemaker.
Prior to Media Lab’s creation, the account was held by Group M’s Mediacom.
Mumbrella understands Media Lab was on a contract which is now up for renewal, and Westpac is now conducting a closed pitch between Group M and Publicis.
Westpac Group brands including RAMS, St George Bank, Bank of Melbourne and Bank SA already have a relationship with Publicis through Saatchi & Saatchi, which acts as their creative agency.
The media account for RAMS sat with Blue 449, which has been absorbed into Publicis Media’s Spark Foundry.
Westpac’s primary creative account remains with Omnicom’s DDB.
Westpac declined to comment further, as did Group M and Publicis Media.
Sure Publicis will be going incredibly hard for this, why would Westpac want to continue sharing a home with CBA and NAB? Too much conflict of interest having 3 of the big 4 in one holding group.
Really Westpac? Now? Do you have to?
Interesting that with all the compliance requirements on banks these days that they don’t pitch more often. And also that they don’t consider other agencies outside of their incumbents. You would imagine there are better options out there than a WPP “bespoke” solution and a Publicis “bespoke” solution.

Things are exploding
Why would you bother going thru the ordeal of a pitch process with only 2 incumbents. So many great options out there not even being considered.
We like them – We just don’t like paying for them. Same same but cheaper?
