Who is Julian Clarke?
Julian Clarke’s return from retirement to lead News Corp Australia took many by surprise. Here’s a guide to the new CEO of the organisation.
1. He testified in court in 2010 during the sacked Herald Sun editor Bruce Guthrie’s trial.
In 2010, Clarke spent more than two hours on the stand as a witness for News Limited when former editor Bruce Guthrie successfully sued for wrongful dismissal. In his testimony, Clarke said Guthrie had argued with Andrew Bolt a month into his editorship and acted rudely. He also said Guthrie had wrongfully criticised advertising director Fiona Mellor and called her unprofessional in what Clarke stated was “far beyond anything I have known to have happened on the editorial floor”.
Rupert’s man.
Rumour has it that he’s only a seat warmer till Murdoch junior takes over
He is actually a good bloke so it is nice to see him back.
Your 5-point analysis of “Who is Julian Clarke?” sells him short.
Clarke is an intelligent, clever, level-headed newspaperman who has been an admired media leader for decades. To have the Guthrie case as the number one item of your version of his CV indicates that Mumbrella might have relied on Google to assemble a fast story.
Am very happy to see Julian Clarke back as head of News Corp Australia. A big relief with staff already talking about stability and the thought of each Newspaper being able to work somewhat independant of each other.
Welcome back Julian. A man who knows a lot about Newspapers and very respected.
^^
This has to go viral!! People at News Corp LITERALLY can’t spell ‘independent’. ha ha
