Wish You Were Here opens with a strong $7,356 screen average

Australian film Wish You Were Here has taken $279,538 in its first weekend.

Distributed by Hopscotch/eOne, the film opened across 38 screens for an impressive weekend screen average of $7,356, according to the Motion Picture Distributors Association of Australia.

This week films opened day a day earlier than normal, on Wednesday 25 April, to take advantage of the Anzac Day public holiday.

As a result, the film’s overall box office total is $328,853.
