With a little PR magic from Max Markson, Naomi Robson’s lizard didn’t happen and neither did the cannibals
I had an intriguing press release from publicist Max Markson today.
Naomi Robson is back in front of the camera. Even if it’s only online. And Markson Sparks PR is helping her with the launch of The Naomi Show.
Writing the background of the story, I wanted to give some details about her time on Seven’s Today Tonight. Like many people I’m sure, I vaguely remembered some sort of fuss about her wearing a lizard on her shoulder while covering Steve Irwin’s death. And something about a farcical rescue attempt of a boy from cannibals.
The details escaped me. So I turned to Robson’s Wikipedia profile. Oddly, none of it was there.
Interestingly, in the Talk page for that article (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Naomi_Robson) MaxMarkson says all the content he deleted is libelous and false, and he’d be happy to put a random WP person in direct contact with Naomi.
You can see what exactly has been getting deleted (and re-added) at http://en.wikipedia.org/w/inde.....=340519989
Surely if you’re going to do something that raises suspicion, you don’t use your own name. So he must believe he’s got a pretty strong case for removing the details (as it seems from Harley’s post).
Naomi Robson = bonsai moron. Gee, I hope an anagram doesn’t = libel.
That is GOLD Nat !
I doubt he truly believes he had a strong case for removing the content. I’d say it’s more likely he is grooving to the “any publicity is good publicity” beat. Gotta let people know about Robson’s new show *some* way, right?
Agree Simon, Max Markson would be well aware of the Streisand Effect and I’m sure he’s relying on it right now
and this is why you should never use wikipedia as back up or source for yr research – you can’t cite it in a university essay!
Thx Tim, this is the first time i’ve been at mumbrella.com.au. really enjoyed the article.
in response to Layla; with all due respect, didn’t the IPCC get their data for global warming from Wiki?
that must mean Wiki’s all right no?
today tonight sprouts nationalism and conservativism in a time when neither are relevant any longer.
“with all due respect, didn’t the IPCC get their data for global warming from Wiki?”
With all due mocking, no.
That’s like saying didn’t The Beatles get all their song ideas by listening to other bands on iTunes.
Where would the global warming debate be without gullibility.
