Women’s NBL big winner to date in federal government’s $30m Foxtel sports deal
The federal government has released details of the sports to be covered under its controversial $30m women’s and niche sports broadcasting program.
Introduced in the 2017-18 budget as a sweetener to Foxtel under the federal government’s broadcasting reforms, the deal saw $15m given up front to the subscription TV broadcaster with two annual payments of $7.5m over the following years.
Surely, some of the FTA networks should be in line for this. I cant see a niche sport driving PAY TV subscription and therefore increasing viewership. It’s the masses that need to see it. They could save millions by playing on a digital channel on SBS if the like of TEN/NINE and seven dont want it.
who would sit and watch womens sports unless theyre playing in bikinis its boring..aus is trying to be amajor player yet they will suck internationally like they do in every other sport..AFL cricket..throw a few girls around the mix copy the word marquee make entry free and wow you get people hooked? footballers are born with skill they dont get headhunted to play a sport that needs people to play and pretend its important. men that watch women play are a laughing stock, men watch men play women watch women play simple
