2014 Annual: the year that was – October

It was another year of continual change in the media and marketing world. Over the next 12 days, Mumbrella’s Miranda Ward provides a month-by-month recap of the major stories and developments that affected the industry.

TheBachelor_S2_M01_Blake_900x506October was a good month for Channel Ten when the final of Ten’s reality dating show The Bachelor had a boost in ratings after last minute publicity suggested bachelor Blake Garvey had already ended his engagement to Sam Frost.

In other TV news, Network Seven launched legal action against former executive producer of Sunrise Adam Boland over his unpublished memoir. The publisher of the book rushed it into stores to prevent the court action.

Bauer Media confirmed the closure of title Women’s Fitness, it was later saved by Citrus Media. September also saw  lads magazine Zoo Weekly retire its website and online community.
