60 Minutes tops the night with 1.4m viewers helping Nine claim top spot

Screen Shot 2014-07-21 at 9.45.27 AMA special 60 Minutes examining the police investigation of Gerard Baden-Clay, along with an interview with his mistress of four years Toni McHugh, drew an audience of 1.41m viewers and was the highest rating program of Sunday night for Nine.

The strong performance helped Nine win the night with an audience share of 24.7 per cent, well up on their performance from 20.4 per cent last week according to OzTam preliminary overnight ratings.

Sunday night saw audiences up across the board for all the major network franchises with The X Factor drawing an audience of 1.27m while The Voice Kids drew 1.22m.Ten’s Masterchef had 1.07m viewers as contestants made a banana split with a twist, as the show moves into its final week with nightly eliminations with the cooking show helping Ten beat rival Seven in Melbourne where it had 16.9 per cent audience compared to 16.3 per cent. 

However, Ten’s new sci-fi show Extant, featuring Halle Berri, had 556,000 well down on last week where it debuted with 614,000 viewers.
