Great news an New tv channel on the seven network called seven flix channel on 76 channel in February28/2016 but no sound

The 7flix naming is just sad, particularly when Pretty Woman, Mindy Project, Legally Blonde, Pitch Perfect, and Elaine-centric Seinfeld clips make it appear to be the female-oriented equivalent of 7mate. 7missus? 7sheila?

The Seven Network should have created a 24/7 music/entertainment channel instead. That would have challenged Foxtel with MTV, Channel V, Fox8 and more.

From what I’ve read, 7flix is going to be just another channel loaded with old American programmes that have already been repeated to death. 9Life is packed with rubbish programmes, too. These channels are simply lame and cheap endeavours masquerading as “entertainment”.

Do we get Bill Collins or a replacement for 7’s late great Ivan Hutchinson to intro the movies again?

Seven, how are you going to make this channel different from just another old fashioned and outdated movie channel concept…

Put some elbow grease into your strategy and really think hard about why I would turn on your channel over watching my VPN’d Netflix and see all your movies ad free.

Otherwise, you might as well kick out your channel staff and automate the whole channel. Oh… maybe you have already done this….

It looks identical to channel GO and ELEVEN. Why don’t they try something that has not been done on free to air before. Like a Crime Investigation/ Documentary channel.

Why not have a channel dedicated to the 70s and 80s with a mixture of tv shows and movies for that era. I just hope you do not show movies and tv shows that you have previously played in the past. Why not have cult classics shown instead like toxic avenger, attack of killer tomatoes and shows like the a- team airwolf.

Can;t wait if this is going to be a real channel with movies sit coms, Documentary’s and good television but if all we are getting is another info channel or lifestyle channel you can keep its just a waste of time. I note in you comments you say there are 17 free to air channels I would argue that is not the case because most the channels outside the regular channels 7.9. and 10 are really rubbish with half of them being nothing more than info channels I mean seriously how many times can you sit and watch Brazilian Gems Blueberry Quartz, flawless eyes, shark rotator or the anxiety channel and they are repeated day after day after day. . These aren’t free to air television channels these are just 24/7 advert channels and most the rest are lifestyle or food channels. What we need is dedicated free to air movie and documentary channels not the rubbish that is being thrown at us currently. So hopefully 7 flix actually gives us a better range of choice. While I am at it I am so sick of having insurance Adverts shoved down my throat all though the day watching free to air TV . Isn’t this just 7mate but with a different name and channel number? They should have went with a 24/7 sports channel or an HD simulcast of their main channel.

With all the crap Foxtel is showing just be grateful that channel 7 is trying to make all the veiws. I had Foxtel for nearly 17 years in the end they disrespect their customers.

Yet another channel which is in a format all my TV’s do not support. Along with 9HD, 74, 78 and the newly coming 10HD. Why should we have to buy a house full of new TV sets just because the stations want to use the latest encoding format. Appears I will NOT be watching these new channels. Great marketing – I think NOT.

There might not be any shows on it I like unless I find out and wait. I’ve already tuned it into my TV and PVR. The Muppets looks good but the rest doesn’t look good.

The “latest encoding format” in question (h.264 aka “MPEG-4”) was released in 2003 (before YouTube was invented). It is far from new, and TV manufacturers have known it was likely to become very popular many years ago. This encoding format allows TV networks to fit more channels on any given chunk of broadcasting frequencies (spectrum). NZ (and other countries) use it exclusively for their terrestrial TV channels.

If they used a newer encoding format, (say the 2013 released h.265), they could fit even more channels in and/or run them at higher resolutions. For the same picture quality, you can fit a little over twice as many channels in as h.264.

So if your TV equipment was made in the last ten years, you should get upset with the manufacturer that they didn’t include h.264 support. My $30 set top box from 5 years ago supports it fine. If the ABC or SBS decided to start broadcasting h.265 channels, I would happily spend another $30 to receive them.

Checked the EPG. Just another channel full of crap. Quantico is being repeated all 11 episodes up to the midseason break. The season starts again with Episode 12 airs on the 6th March in the USA when will we get to see it many moons later???.

We are not able to see this new channel in regional areas yet, but there have been a few ads for the station on regional TV. maybe we will see it in about six months time…

I am really hoping this new channel has a lot of movies, and not just one a week, and hopefully not a movie, that’s going to relplay over and over, every week!

Huston, got a problem! Closed captions had problems with missing captioning on 7flix. Please fix that frequency and please that channel 76 switch to channel 74. TV4ME channel 74 switch to channel 74.

Tuned into 7flix this morning. What a missed opportunity for 7. It’s analogous to GEM but with a serial string of episode repeats. FTA really is dead.

So I live on the Gold Coast & cannot tune in the new Flix channel.

Reading some of the comments above suggest it’s not coming to regional areas (although the Gold Coast is bigger than some capital cities). So I’ve had to sit through countless ads about Flix, but won’t actually be able to see it

Also, I’m going to miss out on new episodes of one of my fave shows The Mindy Project

Omg once upon a time has just been moved to another channel. I am a female I don’t like chick flicks they make me I’ll ! I would rather watch action packed movies, documentaries and crime shows not the boring dribble that’s on the commercial promoting 7Flix, These shows have been run a million times over the last 20 years. I am having problems with 7flix and can’t seem to get it on my HD TV

Have a Digital TV, less than 5 years old model GVA32HD, tried retuning several times and cannot receive this new 76 7Flix channel. Live in inner Melbourne.
In fact, prior to retuning Ihad all of 9’s HD channel’s appear on the viewing list (couldn’t get good reception on them, TV not HD), but now these channels have disappeared from my viewing list.

I want my tv to be free to air and will hold out against paying for movies till the last. If I have to endure being told not to leave it to the kids to pay my funeral so be it. They have more money than I have. So I hope there will be lots of good movies and sit coms- as long as we don’t get another thousand repeats of Friends!

My HD TV and DVD Recorder were both bought brand new just over 4 years ago and I can’t get the new 7Flix channel.

According to everything I’ve seen online, it’s supposed to be some that are 6 years or older that may have issues. Four years old is ridiculous.

For the last week the tv/dvd recorder has had no problem finding it as it was showing up in the EPG as 7Flix on Channel 74 until yesterday when it suddenly disappeared.

Nice one Channel 7. When I find out who advertises on 74 I’ll make sure never to buy from them. And tell them why.

I choose not to buy a new set or piece of equipment everytime the media broadcasters and sellers conspire to hold us hostage. Free to air media requires customers to sell their advertising, whereas we customers now have other choices. It’s up to the broadcasters to come to the party and acknowledge that the customers they hope to keep are generally the ones with the older technology and no wish or finance to keep updating.

Initially angry at the inability to see the latest and greatest channel offerings from the Australian networks. Soon realised truly missing nothing at all. It forced me to watch fresh programming in another way.

I found out, almost by accident, that my old Panasonic Blu-Ray recorder (DRM-BW850) successfully records the new Channel 76 TV programs perfectly, so I can watch them later. BUT I cannot view the same programs on the TV in real time (I am connected to a Fujitsu Plasmavision). The weird thing is that I am able to get the sub-titles of the new TV program coming up on the screen, but no picture and no sound (same applies for all MPEG-4 TV broadcasts). Bummer, but at least for the programs I really want to see, I can record & watch later.

I am receiving an invalid message on my screen. I can hear the programme but cannot see it. Seems to be many in the same situation is this false advertising . Please have the courtisy to rectify the situation .

I tried to watch the new Channel 76 7 Flix, but I can’t get the volume to work, I have volume on all the other channel’s, but not 76 7 Flix. I am not sure if anyone else has this problem, but there is no volume on that channel.

Can’t get channel 76/7 Flix. We get a black screen with no video or audio available .We get all the other channels in HD digital . What is different with this channel that we can’t get it?

I’ve got two tv’s. One gets Channel 76 automatically and the other doesn’t get it at all, due to the new broadcasting format. I rang Channel 7 who told me that I’d need to get a set-top box to watch it on the older TV! How many people are going to buy a new TV or a set-top box for ONE TV channel?

7flix – old shows with really low sound. Have to turn the tv sound up to full 100% just to get mumbling speech compared to all other channels @ 30-35%. What a waste of time retuning the tv.

Fear not. Channel 7 does have 1 redeeming feature. Plus 7. Although I cannot tune any of my TV’s to the new 7Flix channel, I can watch it online via Plus 7. (Unlike Channel 9’s live online streaming “9Now” which still has a LONG way to go to catch up with channel 7) Channel 9 line streaming online (when it does work that is) still thinks I am in Victoria although I live in WA. My ISP is based out of Victoria (Dodo) and channel 9 works out your location using IP address not your device’s location settings. All the programs are 2 hours ahead of me. 9Now, more like “9TwoHoursFromNow”

How for I get to view this channel I have only voice no picture. My television has dtv ATV etc
So what do I have to do to get it. If I have to purchase a set top box. I will be happ to not not watch it. Like many others . So you lose another viewer. Any less power bill for me.

I was upset that the closed captions had problems with the missing the letter, dot and the question mark on the captions on the right side in tv!!! What’s the hell is going on??? Channel 7, 7TWO and 7mate is normally closed captions was perfect but 7flix didn’t!!! I watch 7flix with captions and I feel confousing what I reading with missing the letter, dot and the queation marks. Please read it your self on 7flix with closed captions and see ur self. June, it would appear that your TV is not MPEG4 compatible… My suggestion and cheap and easy way out is to purchase a HD set-top box (MPEG4 capable) and allow its tuner to replace that of your TV.

Just retuned in all the new channels. Sat down to watch the new 7flix but there’s no audio! Pretty crap channel 7!

So, I’ve read all the comments before. I know why I can get sound but no picture on my tv. I even think I know why channel 7 decided to put 7flix up in mpg format. What I don’t understand is why they didn’t see fit to inform the general public that in order to watch the new channel, the TV or a set-top box would need to be mpg4 compatible? There was plenty of opportunity during the blanket advertising phase. Instead, when we attempt to tune in, some of us (btw my tv was bought in the boxing day sales 2014) cannot view the new channel, and are left without any explanation as to why. I feel this is VERY poor customer service. Don’t underestimate the collective intelligence of your viewers. Sure, there are some people viewing out there who’s IQ is the same as their shoe size, but they will talk and complain either here or on social media. When the word gets back to corporations that people are feeling “ripped off” or “disappointed” with a channel, you can bet it will make them think twice about spending their advertising budget airing their ads on a channel many “can’t get”.

When 76 Flix started a week ago, I decided to record Benson. All went well UNTIL about Friday when, for some reason, the sound won’t come through on the recording. If I watch 76 Flix Live I get sound. No problems recording the other stations!

My sister and I have the exact same TV…not just same brand but exact same model.

To all the folks whinging about not able to get an image on Channel 76, contact the manufacturer and see if there is a firmware upgrade. Simple.

I live in Ipswich QLD. I have tried several times to auto tune channel 76 without success. I have sound but no picture. It comes up iinvalid format.
My TV is not old either only a couple of years old.
My daugher lives five minutes away from me and their TV had no trouble getting 76.
What can I do to fix this problem.

Just how many times will these morons subject us to the black and white western called Badman’s Terrritory?? This film has been screening several times a month -daytime and evening. Just how many times can we be subjected to Randolf Scott and the feisty lady?? Isn’t there a review board to protect us from the SAME film being shown OVER and OVER again?? How right you are, John. The Black and White dreary Western called Badman’s Territory is being shown almost every week – over and over and over and over and over again!! Something should be done to stop this appalling, cheap use of our TV screening.
