AFL film to get January theatrical release

A new film by the director of Summer Coda has been announced for a late January theatrical release.

Blinder, the third feature film by Richard Gray after Summer Coda and the yet to be released Mine Games is scheduled for a January 24 opening.
The film began production in February in Torquay, Victoria before moving to Boston, USA to finish filming.

The story follows a former AFL player Tom, played by The Slap’s Oliver Ackland, who flees Australia on the back of a scandal that ended his career before it began.

On returning to clear his his name he reignites a relationship with an ex girlfriend. With his return also comes revelations regarding the shameful aftermath of his team’s grand final begin to cause termoil in his life once again.
