The AFL recruit Thor star Chris Hemsworth to narrate season launch campaign
The AFL has recruited Hollywood A-lister Chris Hemsworth (Thor) to narrate their ad promoting the launch of 2014 premiership season.
The campaign, via GPY&R Melbourne, features the Aussie actor discussing what’s possible in the upcoming season set against images of players backed by a track from The Delta Riggs.
It aims to leverage the optimism and hope shared by fans at the beginning of the season, ending with the tagline “only one thing’s certain – in 2014 everything’s possible”.
Looks like a Seven Network promo.
Game over GPY&R.
Players from all clubs feature in the ad except for Essendon. Ouch! Revenge!
apparently there is nothing in the fact that there was no Essendon players featured in this ad about all AFL clubs (apart from Essendon)…so there.
Seriously?
I’ve watched this twice and am not remotely excited by the season ahead.
Hemsworth is not a bad choice but he sounds like he’s literally reading a script.
There’s no light and shade in the voice. Production qualities leave me shrugging my shoulders.
Okay, but what’s next?
well, it gets me pumped up about AFL’s return. thoroughly tired of soccer & cricket! actually saw this first on AFL Facebook community… punters seem to be loving it.
The greatest game on Earth has been reduced to this? I love my AFL and this did nothing in the way of inspiring me. One word – Lackluster!
