After a year without a retained agency, Nando’s appoints Banjo
Nando’s, one of Australia’s most prominent tactical advertisers, has appointed Sydney-based Banjo as its creative agency.
The news comes almost one year after the chicken burger chain parted ways with long-time incumbent, Melbourne’s The Sphere Agency.
Since then, Nando’s has been running its advertising inhouse and working with agencies on a project basis.
Nando’s marketing chief Kim Russell confirmed the news.
Russell told Mumbrella in June last year that one of the reasons Nando’s split with The Sphere Agency was over the agency’s fee.
However, she would not give reasons behind the appointment of Banjo, or say whether there was a pitch involved.
Nando’s became well known for tactical advertising while working with The Sphere Agency, and continued to run tactical ads while without an agency.
Its latest effort was around the Labor leadership contest.
Won’t take long for Banjo to change its tune on this win.
Did banjo come up with this Rudd tactical, because if so…. Bring back Sphere
I know Kim from her days at Telstra and she is a smart marketer.
I’d trust her judgement
It was pre-Banjo so I think the ‘smart marketer’ was responsible for that one.
Its really dangerous when ‘some’ marketers believe they are smart. It ruins the integrity of the industry. I hope Banjo can put Nando’s back on the map as they are as stale as their ‘so called’ fresh chicken.
Except that Banjo have been working with Nando’s for over 6 months.
