More indecent assault charges have reportedly been made against Alan Jones ahead of the former 2GB host’s court appearance on Wednesday.
UPDATE: ‘I’ll be defending every charge’ – Alan Jones addresses media outside court
According to The Daily Telegraph, while he was already facing 26 offences over historic sexual assault allegations, the presenter has been hit with eight new charges of “assault with an act of indecency”, bringing the total to 34.
He is set to appear at Downing Centre Local Court on Wednesday.
In a statement issued by NSW Police, the eight additional charges relate to a tenth victim.
Jones was arrested at his home in Circular Quay last month, with Child Abuse Squad detectives charging him over “alleged historic indecent assault and sexual touching offences”.
It came after a nine-month investigation by Strike Force Bonnefin, a team set up within the State Crime Command’s child abuse and sex crimes squad.
The allegations span back to 1965, when Jones was a 23-year-old teacher at Brisbane Grammar.
Jones joined the newly-formed Australian Digital Holdings in 2021, where he hosted a new show titled Alan Jones: Direct To The People. Following the latest series of allegations, Jones was removed from air – he has not been seen publicly since.
