Alice Almeida becomes head of audience and data at Ausbiz
The former head of strategy and innovation at News Corp, Alice Almeida, has resurfaced at media start-up Ausbiz as head of audience and data.
Almeida left News Corp in August last year whilst on maternity leave. She then went viral on LinkedIn when she lamented the difficulties of attempting to return to work, with some recruiters suggesting she take a $90,000 pay cut just to get back in the game.
After the success of her LinkedIn post, and the issues it shone a light on, Almeida starred in a LinkedIn campaign which showcased the platform’s ability to bring people together and ignite opportunities.
Good for her and also impressive that LinkedIn leveraged and promoted a good cause. I followed this story and I am surprised News Corp have come off so lightly.
I hope she is being paid accordingly.
Standard practice at News Corp i’m afraid – don’t pay-out on mat/pat with less than a years service.
It’s more than just the mat leave… News is simply awful to its employees across the board.
Look at the way the Murdoch press treats the public!! Inherited $’s being put to poor use. Let’s see if Lachlan does a James Packed and fcks it up? We shall see?
I can relate to Alice’s story after being made redundant two weeks before I was due back off my maternity leave, and after my request to return part-time was refused.
It was a real blessing in disguise as it worked out for me, and hopefully Alice too.
Very well deserved Alice – best of luck with the new role 🙂
