Alpha Digital bolsters senior team with two new hires

Alpha Digital has hired two senior team leaders.

The announcement:

Alpha Digital, an award-winning marketing agency, today announces the appointment of two senior team leaders: Tim Harper-Russell as Head of Growth, and Nathan Fraser as Head of Product.

Nathan Fraser joins following nine years at OMD, where he left as Managing Partner at the end of 2025. A rich career spanning two decades has seen the veteran work across a diverse range of clients and categories including Super Retail Group, Amart, Village Roadshow and the Australian Labor Party.

With more than 20 years in media, including 15 within Dentsu and WPP agencies, Tim Harper‑Russell brings both a deep network and an insider’s understanding of the challenges modern brands face. He draws on extensive experience delivering award‑winning work and driving growth for clients across Tourism and Travel (AirAsia, Tourism Whitsundays), Retail (Super Retail Group, Amart Furniture), QSR (Domino’s) and the not‑for‑profit sector (Bond University).

In his new role, Harper‑Russell will lead Business Development at Alpha Digital, a function previously managed by CEO Matt Cooper. Reviving the Head of Product role, Fraser will champion delivery excellence and streamline Alpha’s offering under a single, values-based model.

Alpha Digital was acquired by ASX-listed XPON Technologies nearly a year ago, as part of XPON’s broader M&A strategy to unite complementary businesses capable of leveraging its AI-powered marketing suite to maximise client value.

New Head of Product, Nathan Fraser said: “After spending most of my career in Hold Co agencies, I knew I didn’t want to throw myself into something new, without being sure it aligns with where I want to go next. Alpha’s team, its philosophy and potential, is setting a new benchmark for brand services in Australia, and I’m excited to help expand it and contribute to the next evolution of the agency”.

Tim Harper-Russell, Head of Growth said: “Alpha Digital is one of the longest running indie agencies in the space, and when Matt explained his vision for what comes next, I had to be a part of it. Alpha is building something unique in media, with a curiosity I’ve not seen displayed by a whole team before, backed by a listed business revolutionising modern marketing, what’s not to love?”

Matt Cooper, Alpha Digital CEO, said: “Both leaders join at an exciting time, as we continue to modernise marketing and customer experience. Tim impressed us with both his deep knowledge and engaging style; he’s a gregarious and ambitious addition. Alongside Nathan, who will shape and set the standard for all client work, together they bring four decades of experience that will be instrumental as growth strategy kicks up another gear in 2026.”

XPON already offers award-winning ‘plug and play’ software for marketers through its CDP, Wondaris, that accurately predicts customer behaviour and tailors a brand’s marketing responses at scale.

Cooper continued: “Alpha is transforming, shaping a new kind of agency, one that pioneers future-proofing tech for brands.

“We’ve seen how XPON’s emerging technologies are already empowering both marketing performance and client growth, and their impact on bottom lines. The partnership positions Alpha at the forefront of XPON’s ambition to build a modern, connected marketing group, a mini Hold Co with Alpha remaining agile at the centre.”

Alpha celebrates its 15th anniversary on 4th May this year.
