Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull may have patched things up with 2GB shock jock Alan Jones on the campaign trail, but other radio stations have found it trickier to get a few minutes with him, including Nova 93.7 Perth.

So the breakfast team at the satation came up with an idea to stand out from the crowd when Turnbull turned up in the city today, send 2.01cm tall Perth Wildcat player Greg Hire down to see him dressed in a red sweater.

And the idea paid off, with Hire being plucked from the press pack at the Hyatt Hotel for a photo with Turnbull, and then getting him to call the breakfast team of Nathan, Nat & Shaun.
