Anti-trawler group launches attack ad in The Australian
A green group has launched an attack ad in protest of the arrival of a super-trawler fishing vessel in Australian waters.
The environmental group, a combination of 13 different protest groups, is organising a protest against the FV Margiris on Saturday 11 August in Hobart Port.
As well as press, the ‘Turn Away The Super Trawler’ campaign is being mobilised using Facebook, and has more than 2,000 fans.
The design of the ad was by Streetline Media.
Agree with the sentiment and the imagery and execution is striking and relevant.
However, the site is a bit heavy on the evil problem to be smited, verses how to sustainably manage the Australian fishing industry with the existing fishing fleet structure.
It’s an ugly possibility (that I haven’t explored) that having one super-trawler instead of a hundred traditional trawlers may be less impactful in terms of by-catch, environmental incidents, fuel used, etc.
@ AdGrunt It appears that this super-trawler is not to replace any existing commercial fishing, tradition trawlers but as well as.
