Australian Olympic team fronts Qantas in-flight safety video
Qantas has launched a new in flight safety video ahead of the 2012 London Olympics.
The video – designed to build on the airline’s sponsorship of the Australian Olympic and Paralympic teams – features several Aussie athletes including Steve Hooker, Leisal Jones and Natalie Cook.
Qantas is not the only Australasian airline to be focusing on its in-flight videos. Air New Zealand launched its latest safety video a few days ago and has already accumulated clocking 1m views on YouTube.
The Qantas safety video will run on all domestic and international flights until August.
Using athletes in the safety demo was done by Turkish Airlines last year
45. second of this ad is looking very similar to the concept of Turkish Airlines ad with the Manchester United team

I saw it on a flight this week. It is too distracting and I am surprised Qantas have received Air Services approval.
When it comes to in-flight safety demo videos, Air New Zealand wins the Gold and Qantas doesn’t even get an Olympic B-Qualifier.
Some serious airbrushing going on here? Leisal’s face is flawless!
Air NZ, enough said.

This done well by Air NZ
I love sport – and am quite a fan of Qantas.
But – can I say – as a regular Qantas traveller (I fly at least 2-4 times a week) that I hate these announcements with a passion.
Nobody likes the safety announcements. NOBODY!
So – why would you want to link something positive (the Games) with something negative!
Really – these ads really make me resent the fact that Qantas is sponsoring the team.
Air New Zealand versions are fantastic, but this is abysmal… shocker from Qantas!
Why do they always sound so happy when talking about falling out of the sky in a burning wreck with your oxygen mask attached to your face?
What a load of rubbish. Either do it brilliantly (Air NZ) or don’t do it at all.
