Australian Spotify users hit with price increase

Spotify has confirmed that Australian users will be hit with a price increase from next month.
As reported by news.com.au, the streaming service informed its customers via email on Tuesday that its Premium Family subscription – which provides users with ad-free listening – will increase from $20.99 a month to $23.99 starting in May.
A Spotify spokesperson told Mumbrella on Tuesday: “So that we can keep innovating and delivering value to fans, the music industry, and creators on our platform, we occasionally update our prices.
“We’ve begun communicating with existing subscribers in Australia to explain what this means for their account.”
The move comes after Spotify increased individual subscriptions from $11.99 to $12.99 per month last September.
Meanhile, in December last year, CEO Daniel Ek announced that 17% of the organisation’s total headcount were being let go, saying at the time: “Economic growth has slowed dramatically and capital has become more expensive. Spotify is not an exception to these realities.”
Mumbrella has contacted Spotify Australia’s PR for further comment.
Meh
It’s kind of crappy that paying for premium still incurs dynamically inserted non host read ads in podcasts.
And while I’m at it, the 15 hour limit on premium included Audiobooks is totally lame.
I love this service, but that is a big increase
That is a lot!
Maybe I don’t want the new features
will be canceling –
