BankWest, where the drugs are stronger
While there could be another explanation for what’s going on in these new ads for BankWest, it’s hard to get beyond every single character in the commercials being on very unusual drugs, or at the very least chainsaw-fixated psychopaths.
The first rule of BankWest adverts is you do not talk about BankWest adverts.

I like. just cut the bit at the end. shouldn’t I be left thinking bankwest, not weird puppet. looks like it was inspired by Monkey of ITV Digital fame (UK).
Well, it makes more sense as follow on from the puppets being used in previous ads…
That said, they are bizarre.
These ads are the worst on telly – they are neither clever or funny.
I bet the self-proclaimed creative guru with a title like “Director of Creative ” who came up with the idea for these ads is creaming in his pants about now.
The only action I take from these ads is to steer as far clear as possible from BankWest.
although they weren’t my cup of tea, the old ones were cute and friendly. these have a very different tone and are just a bit creepy. not a fan.
Is that rag-thing old enough to travel in the front seat?
At least there are no bananas….
hmmmmm, Sunflower seeds must an aphrodisiac… that Sunflower creeps me out!
They need to bring back the Pony that looks like a midget donkey
Well I found the ads effective. If I ever get off my fat arse and decided to change banks I know to rule BankWest out. (Did they get the B and the W in the wrong order?)
So many negative nancies…. I like them! They are left of centre and I can easily quote the key message from all three ads.
Left of field and a bit weird…but I like them for it
In a category with many parity products and predictable campaigns this achieves stand out & recall of Product whilst delivering the consumer benefit
All the negative comments merely prove the point. Bank West is very very different.
look, we’re all talking about BankWest
I don’t get them, but I like them!
So many tall poppies! People in this country can’t just shut their mouths and let things be – they have to try and pull things down! Get a life you miserable morons, it’s humor!
While I agree these are a bit strange, compared to the ads every other bank is doing – at least they stand out.
The analogy route might get a bit tired after a while, not sure about the sound track either but well done for doing something different.
