Between The Lines falls below the water
The second outing of Nine’s comedy sports quiz Between The Lines declined to 610,000 on Thursday, taking it to just the 20th most watched show of the day.
Nine had promoted the Eddie McGuire-hosted show to viewers as being a major moment in TV history comparable to the moon landings and the first Australian TV broadcast.

game, set, match…..
Cringe.
They reckon Jackie O has the “touch of death”… Eddie has taken down almost every show he’s touched outside of AFL related programing. Stop living in the past Nine. It’s clearly not working.
Can you do an interview with the head of programming at 9 please? You only need to ask on question: why?
As I’ve said before in another read on this topic, I love sports, I love quiz shows in this vein (ala Spicks and Specks) but this does not work.
One thing I will say though is that people keep bringing up that this show compared itself to the moon landing in terms of major TV events, and I think we can tell from the promo that it was a bit tongue in cheek, particularly when you see everything else that they featured on the promo after that.
But yeah, starting to agree with @Nate, Eddie developing a bit of a ‘touch of death’. It’s a shame because he’s good at what he does best, which is interact with ‘Joe Public’ on game shows like Million Dollar Hotseat, and the old Who wants to be a millionaire. More Channel 9 over using him, than using him correctly in the right vehicle. And I’ll excuse him from ‘Million Dollar Drop’, Eddie was doing fine as Eddie, it was the casting people’s fault for putting in possibly some of the most annoying contestants of all time on TV. You watched that show wanting them to fail not win.
We pray that Eddie brings the “touch of death” to his football team as well!
You wouldnt want to hold your breath waiting for nine to realise that people aren’t overly keen in watching Eddie.
