The Block dominates as X Factor sinks to lowest audience ever

Nine’s The Block easily dominated Sunday night TV viewing, pulling in 1.175m metro viewers from 7:00pm to be the most-watched program of the evening.

The reality series easily out-rated reality rival Seven’s The X Factor, which in the same time slot, was watched by 676,000 – the show’s lowest audience ever; while Ten’s Modern Family pulled in 421,000.

The Block, 60 Minutes and Nine News Sunday were the top three most-watched shows across the key advertising demographics (16-39, 18-49 and 25-54), helping Nine win the night with an audience share of 23.7%.

Seven claimed second place with a share of 16.7%, while the ABC grabbed third place with a share of 12.2%, and Ten achieved a share of 9.2%.

Nine’s 60 Minutes was watched by 883,000 at 8:30pm, beating Seven’s Sunday Night which at 8:50pm had a metro audience of 486,000. Ten’s Sunday night movie Red 2, airing from 8:30pm, pulled in 331,000.

Nine’s Events that Changed the Noughties, airing at 9:30pm, had a metro audience of 457,000.

Nine News Sunday grabbed 1.021m metro viewers while Seven News was watched by 997,000.

On the ABC, Grand Designs: House of the Year, on at 7:40pm, had an audience of 708,000 and Poldark, airing at 8:30pm, pulled in 532,000.
