The Block winner announcement beats My Kitchen Rules as biggest non-sport show of 2016
Channel Nine’s finale of The Block became the most-watched non-sports show of the year beating the finale of My Kitchen Rules with 2.104m people tuning in last night for the auction.
The audience for the moment young Queenslanders Will Bethune and Karlie Cicero were announced the winners was well up on last year’s auction finale which managed 1.8m viewers, and Seven’s MKR which had 1.969m for its winner announced segment this year.
Similarly the final full show also saw its audience swell to 1.712m, after managing 1.57m for for last year.
You are basing your headline on a 10 minute segment…..You can hardly call a 10 minute segment a ‘show’.
If you time weight the whole ‘finale’ you will find that MKR actually rated higher.
L you highlight a problem with the TV ratings – the networks get to name them, and pick put sub-sets of a show to create the highest possible number.
