BOTW: The business of business publishing; Optus starts advertising; Falloon’s Nine exit
Welcome to Best of the Week, mostly written on a pleasant Friday evening in Perth and completed on Saturday morning, enjoying the novelty of sunrise over the ocean.

Happy Cephalopod Awareness Day.
And also, pinch, punch first of the month. Here comes the final quarter of the year. Reckon you’ve already got 75% ticked off your 2022 to-do list?

Great piece Tim.
Good to have such a vibrant market in Australia for business journalism.
I would love a daily business podcast from Nine and News Corp Australia. I like Please Explain by The Age/SMH. Occasionally they delve into business focused content. The Front by The Australian does too.
The Journal by The Wall Street Journal is my favourite daily podcast by a newspaper. It’s not 100% business focused but you’ll get two or three business focused episodes a week. And at 15 to 18 minutes an episode it’s more concise than The Daily by The New York Times, Post Reports by The Washington Post and Today Explained by Vox.
My subscription is coming up for renewal for tomorrow for Unmade and I’m happy to say that I’ll be with Unmade for at least another year. It’s been great so far.
I’m looking forward to coverage of Foxtel’s upfronts.
Thanks Tim.
Thanks for the kind words Anthony – and for resubscribing – it means a lot.
All the best,
Tim
Tim, we all know that you have a great eye for a great story.
But I didn’t realise you eye was sharp enough that when you were in Perth you were “enjoying the novelty of sunrise over the ocean.” Which ocean was it … Pacific? Or did the sun rise in the west for you as a once-off delight?
Yours in eternal pedantry.
I rely on you for it JG! Now I come to think of it, the novelty is the sunset over the ocean, isn’t it? Which makes me realise that the water I can glimpse from my hotel room must be the Swan River! In (poor) mitigation, my Eastern states body clock felt like it was 4am as I wrote that bit, and my critical thinking was not at its finest!
All the best,
Tim
And I can’t believe you missed an additional pedantry opportunity, John. I’ve just realised my body clock should have felt like 8am…
