Brands need to be at their customers’ service
In this guest post Travis Johnson says this year’s Mobile World Congress highlights why brands need to understand customer needs and solve pain points in order to win their business and the right to conversation.
The theme for this year’s Mobile World Congress in Barcelona is ‘Mobile is Everything’. And I think all of the 100,000 or so attendees recognise the significance that this device plays in our lives – indeed for all 193 minutes of average usage per day.
However, having been to the last few congresses, it’s interesting to see that this year there really aren’t that many game-changing announcements nor shiny new bits of hardware.

Good idea! Thanks for sharing.
Really? It takes a conference in Barcelona to tell you this!? Isn’t this all the stuff everybody’s been talking about since 2008? I just love how people in our industry say these things as if they came up with it themselves or are so generously sharing this newfound discoveries with us mere mortals.
“So my key take-away from the week so far is that when you’re putting your marketing plan together, truly focus on the needs of your customer.”
I’m always amazed by how people in our industry get away with saying stuff everybody takes as if they came up with it themselves, and are now generously educating us mere mortals.
Thanks for going all the way to Barcelona for us. It’s not fair that your clients pay for it all, how can I contribute to your trip next year?
Great insight Trav
