Tourism Fiji’s CEO Brent Hill has announced he will step down to return to Australia permanently.
Hill shared the news on Linkedin on Tuesday morning.
“In my time as CEO I have travelled all over Fiji, met wonderful, warm people, and worked with an inspirational industry who give their all, in a place where happiness truly does come naturally,” he wrote.

“I am incredibly grateful and honoured to have led my talented team, and to have achieved what we have together. I am proud of what we have done professionally and what I could share and give Fiji. And so grateful for what Fiji gave us.”
Hill started at Tourism Fiji in the middle of the pandemic, taking on the tough job of rebuilding the country’s reputation post-Covid.
The pandemic hit Fiji hard, given its economic reliance on tourists. The Pacific nation was also described as the ‘Covid capital’ in 2021 due to widespread outbreaks.
Hill, a former marketer, worked closely with the Fijian Government to reopen the country, including marketing campaigns simply showing the world ‘Fiji Is Open’ again. Speaking at Mumbrella360 in 2023, he shared stories about the difficult and rewarding journey.
Hill will finish up with Tourism Fiji in August, before returning to Australia.
“I now look forward to pursuing exciting opportunities in Australia with my growing family,” he wrote on Linkedin.
