Brisbane to get new $12m television and film studio to help position Queensland as ‘film-friendly’ state

Brisbane will be the beneficiary of a new $12m studio fit for small film and television productions as Queensland premier Anastacia Palaszcuk attempts to position the state as a “film-friendly” location.

Palaszcuk made the announcement in Hollywood after meeting with executives from Netflix, Technicolour, Disney and Brisbane-based production house Hoodlum. 

The location of the Brisbane film and TV studio has yet to be revealed  

The premier said the studio – which will be housed at a yet-to-be-announced location – was a win for the local industry.
