Did a bunch of people just get fired at Yahoo!7?
Sometimes press releases are issued when a company wants to talk about what it’s up to.
And sometimes press releases are issued when a company does not.
Given that this one was accompanied by a message from the PR saying: “There will be no further statements at this time”, Dr Mumbo has a pretty good idea which category this one falls into.
Wonderful use of words to say nothing.
But yes, sounds like jobs are going – and perhaps also that platforms and services are being shifted offshore
The same mistake as every other organisation who adopts this absurd strategy of putting out double speak gibberish at times like this. Try just being honest instead, and people will have more respect for you. Instead they fool themselves into thinking that people actually believe this stuff.
After reading that meaningless drivel, the people who got fired were probably glad to get out of there.
They got made redundant, not fired, have a little respect for your own industry

The disrespectful bit was getting rid of (dozens? hundreds? of) people – use whatever euphemism you like – and dressing it up in this bullshit.

Get over yourselves Yahoo7 [and every other lightweight, tabloid, lowest-common-demoninator-pitching website] and stop referring to your offer as ‘permium.’ The New Yorker you ain’t.
Bing have also globally just had a round of redundancies, significant impact in Australia. Not much seen as far as a press release goes or good comms with agency partners as to why and the how they will service with a ‘lean’ team.
According to an acquaintance, nobody’s been made redundant “yet”
They are going to end the joint venture… they moved the streaming service to a new site and replaced it with some sort of a preview offering and removed the magazines/periodicals or something. Verizon doesn’t want to split the ad money.
I have a Yahoo email account. I use it with my Pure Profile account.
That’s how much I value Yahoo.
This is pretty typical behaviour by Seven. Staff are kept in the dark while rumours swirl and lip service is paid to consulting with staff about redeployment opportunities… then suddenly they’ll announce to the world that people are being made redundant, and *that’s* when the staff find out.

I don’t think I could do a poorer job of presenting news than this organisation. The crap they push down my throat with each misleading heading… I have a yahoo email and keep falling into the same trap of clicking on their misleading clickbait. Nobody I know uses them as a news outlet. Utter garbage. How pathetic do humans have to be to absorb their drivel!!!
