BuzzFeed to launch Australian presence
Cult viral content site BuzzFeed is coming down under, with the technology platform posting an ad for an Australian editor.
The company has today posted the advertisement on its website stating that it is looking for a night editor for Australia.
According to the advertisement the editor would: “own the site in the off hours between our night editor in Hawaii and when our UK editors wake up, and report directly to the editorial director”.
The New York based company is looking for “a number-oriented maniac” with a “proven ability to get viral traffic”
“provide a snapshot of the viral web in realitime” – so, cannibalise reddit posts, and pass them off as your own.
Buzzfeed is the only similar site I know of in existence that credits (With a link!!) the source of all of its images. See here for an example: http://www.buzzfeed.com/awesom.....-australia
Even mUmbrella doesn’t do that.
How they are “passing them off as [their] own” I don’t know, Rebecca.
Seeing as curation seems to be the word de jour (thanks David Karp) I don’t see how this is any different.
it’s a night editor role for the UK/US sites guys, not an Australian editor.
PS Why does this need 2 writing credits? It was on Twitter last week.
